THE GEOMETRIC SERIES

The Geometric Series brings athletics and art together, blending two of my lifelong passions. Capturing the simple shapes and linework found at the bottom of a lap pool and on the track, this collection is an abstract celebration of a lane, with two main styles.

The Split Stripe Style

Drawing visual inspiration from the lanes on a track, the stripe symbolizes your lane, or life path. The break, or split, of the stripe captures where there may be breaks, set backs, or road bumps along your journey. The color shift of the stripe after the split reminds us that despite these hiccups along the way, you can start fresh and get back on your path.

The Pool Line Style

As a competitive swimmer, I spent countless hours staring at the line at the bottom of a lap lane. This line serves as a guide to swimmers to help them know exactly where they are in the lane and keep them moving straight forward. As this was a guide for me for so many years, I wanted to share it with others as well. Let these paintings be a guide and encourage you to go after your goals.

Despite being creative from a young age, I took a lot of detours to get where I am today in my art practice. As I didn’t always have the most confidence in my goals and dreams, I want this series to serve as a visual reminder to all to go after what you want. While our paths may twist and turn along the way, they are our own, there fully for ourselves. Find your lane, or pool line, and follow it.

The Original Series

DROP 001

The Original Series was just the beginning for The Geometric Series. I had an itch to create a bold collection of smaller work just before the 2025 holiday season. In true Maddie Bebout form, I started off with a batch of vibrant colors, even mixing up my favorite shade of blue. While the first ten pieces shown below were launched on my website, I created a three-piece extension for Small Wonders, an art show celebrating smaller works at Over the Moon Studios in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

The 90s Collection

DROP 002

Loving The Original Series and wanting to expand into larger size pieces, I created the 90s Collection. This collection continues many of the bright hues from the original minis, especially my favorite, mid-tone blue. This edition continues the sentiment of the originals, while also tying in inspiration from athletic fashion. Although I have always been drawn to athleisure, I’ve found myself very inspired lately by 90s athletic styles and the classic striped track pants.

Growing the series into larger pieces came with a few changes, mainly in my split stripe style. Now working in 20x20 canvases and above, I switched from one stripe to four, with one split stripe painted its own color. In creating one unique stripe out of the four, these split stripe paintings give us all a reminder to celebrate our unique qualities and life journeys.

The Varsity Collection

DROP 003

The Varsity Collection was initially inspired by my favorite winter color, blue, and the 2026 Winter Games. Watching the Milano-Cortina games brought me back to my time as an athlete and my own athletic accomplishments. From getting my own letterman jacket (a big deal at the time) to winning a state championship and getting my own ring (an even bigger deal at the time), I have fond memories of representing my town and school. Being in the full swing of a New Jersey winter, I decided to create a more winter inspired, yet nostalgic collection. And as much as I love blue and probably would’ve painted with it anyway, it was one of my high school colors.

The Pool House Collection

DROP 004

The Pool House Collection is my abstract ode to my favorite coastal destinations, from Hilton Head Island to Bondi Beach. Continuing with the sentiment of the series of following my true self, I created a collection I would dream of having in my own future beach house. Created with softer coastal hues, this collection is the perfect combination of my three favorite things: colorful art, the beach, and sports.
